Peter Green
Peter Green - Soho - Live At Ronnie Scots
Double vinyl LP; on vinyl for the first time!
The night of Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Ronnie Scott’s was a night to remember. For that evening, the world-famous jazz club in Soho was taken over by a blues crowd. Guitarist and Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green continued the third phase of his career with this lineup of his Splinter Group.
In this excellent set the Group runs through several of Green’s Fleetwood Mac hits (“Black Magic Woman,” “Rattlesnake Shake”) as well as the usual repertoire of blues standards and Robert Johnson songs. Guitarist Nigel Watson contributes one original song, and there is one Bo Diddley tune added. The sound is superb and the performances are magnificent.
The 2CD Recall compilation came as welcome news to the many fans who missed out the first time around. Now this set is released on LP for the first time.
The recording includes many of Green’s most famous compositions such as “Albatross,” “Black Magic Woman,” “Rattlesnake Shake,” “The Green Manalishi,” and “The Supernatural,” plus versions of other blues classics such as “Travelling Riverside Blues” and “Steady Rollin’ Man,” along with extensive liner notes.
