The Who - The Kids Are Alright

£33.95

You might well own it. But if you don’t, let me give you a brief introduction. This is the companion soundtrack to the classic documentary film of the same name, dating back to 1979.

The cover is a classic in itself. Photographer Art Kane’s shot of the band draped in the Union Jack flag at the Carl Shurz Monument in Morningside Heights in New York City on the morning of Friday 5 April 1968, the day of the first of the two concerts at Fillmore East. it was originally shot for a feature on new rock bands for Life Magazine, but is probably best known for appearing as this album sleeve.

A new version on heavyweight vinyl, this is a mix of live and rare versions of classics such as My Generation, I Can’t Explain, I Can See for Miles, Baba O’Riley and many others. See the tracklisting below to see what appears on the album (if you are not familiar with it).

Not exactly a rarity, but like the recent reissue of the Quadrophenia movie soundtrack it fills a gap if you didn’t pick this up first-time around of your old copy is in need of an upgrade.

Reissued on 31st January 2020
