Sleaford Mods - The Demise Of Planet X

£26.95

Limited Edition Green Marbled Vinyl

Andrew Fearn and Jason Williamson's 8th LP once again features guest appearances, including Sue Tompkins from Life Without Buildings, the duo Big Special, and Aldous Harding. Actress Gwendoline Christie also makes her first foray into the music world on the record, lending her voice to the single “The Good Life.” “The Demise Of Planet X represents a life of enormous uncertainty,” explains singer Jason Williamson. “When we wrote the last album, it was about stagnation—about a country that felt like a lifeless body. Three years later, that body has burst open through war, genocide, and the ongoing psychological aftermath of Covid.” In their usual expressive style, “The Demise Of Planet X” is a mocking assessment of the present and, at the same time, an angry cry against the looming cultural darkness. With clear words and sharp wit in 13 tracks, the album strikes back. “The Demise Of Planet X” dissects toxic masculinity as well as Trumpism, combining the unmistakable style of the Nottingham duo with surreal social criticism. “The Demise Of Planet X” follows Sleaford Mods' 2023 album “UK GRIM,” which reached No. 3 on the UK charts.
